Imagine an automated vehicle (AV) moving around a depot. One of its tasks is to go to the washing station and it can do this all by itself.
The vehicle starts its journey by following a predefined route. It drives smoothly and in a controlled way, heading straight toward the wash station. As it gets closer, it carefully aligns itself and approaches in a straight line. When it arrives, it stops exactly at the right spot with an accuracy of about ±5 cm. At that moment, it switches into parking mode, ready to be cleaned.
While driving, the vehicle constantly checks where it is. It uses map data and sensors to understand its position relative to the wash station. This helps it stay perfectly aligned, avoiding any risk of hitting the installation.. This precise positioning is very important, as it keeps both the vehicle and the wash system safe and ensures everything runs smoothly.
