The vehicle can be assigned to follow a specific path to a parking location. The vehicle starts driving automated, following a fixed and predefined route across the yard. It moves smoothly and at a safe speed. Whether the parking spot is outside in the open yard or inside, the city bus keeps navigating carefully toward its target.
When driving inside the building, things get a bit different. There is no GPS available there, so the vehicle relies on other technologies to know exactly where it is. Even in this environment, it continues to move precisely and safely.
As the AV approaches its parking spot, it slows down and prepares to stop. It carefully positions itself and parks exactly in the designated place. Once in position, it switches into parking mode and informs the yard operator that it has successfully parked.
When the first vehicle in the row is leaving its position, the next vehicle in the row will move forward. This increases efficiency and capacity of the depot.

There is always enough space about 60 cm between vehicles, so staff can safely walk between them and no damage occurs.
In the end, the vehicle is safely parked, waiting for its next task. The whole process happens in a controlled environment, where routes, parking spots, and movements are clearly defined. With the combination of automation and human supervision, parking becomes smooth, safe, and efficient just another step in the daily routine of the smart depot.
