E-lions is developing hydrogen-electric vehicles based on the Volkswagen Amarok and Crafter platforms. The project focuses on creating practical fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) that combine zero-emission operation with the range and flexibility required for commercial transport applications.
VDL ETS joined the project as an engineering partner, providing technical validation, engineering consultancy, and prototype development support. By reviewing and validating the vehicle architecture and key technical systems, VDL ETS helped assess the feasibility of the concept and address technical challenges throughout the development process.
In addition to technical validation, VDL ETS contributed to the realization of multiple prototypes. The collaboration supported continuous improvements in vehicle performance, safety, and reliability while helping E-lions further mature its engineering processes and product development approach.
Beyond engineering support, VDL ETS and VDL Special Vehicles provide a pathway towards medium- and large-scale production. The project demonstrates how collaboration between an innovative start-up and an experienced engineering partner can accelerate the development of sustainable mobility solutions and help bring hydrogen-powered transport closer to commercial deployment.
